Jo Robinson Art - About Jo
"Experimenting with new materials, styles and subjects is a great
pleasure for me. Some subjects emerge from the containment
of a frame, in others, the subject exists without any frame. Texture
is an important component in all my work. Layered papers,
textured paints, works cut out of wood, paintings extending beyond the
frame... all are featured in this collection."
Sculpture in solid acrylic, marble, and wood also incorporate
texture. Solid acrylic sculpture is very dramatic when light is
directed towards the piece as light follows the carved edges. Stone carvings,
marble, bluestone, or often contain chisel marks retained for texture.
American
painter and sculptor, Jo Robinson, resided and produced art work in
Barbados for over twenty years.
Before moving to Barbados, the artist maintained an open sculpture
studio in Virginia, USA, and taught figure drawing, beginning
drawing/painting and other art courses through adult education
programs. The artist now resides and continues working in South
Carolina.
The artist paints/draws in various mediums including pastel, acrylic,
collage, etc. and works range from figures to landscape to pure
